Mice have been seen in the kitchen of a secondary school, leading to the suspension of hot meals. The unwelcome visitors were spotted at Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, prompting the headteacher, Clive Thomas, to inform parents through a letter.

Students will receive packed lunches until the issue is sorted out. In his letter, Mr Thomas explained: "Unfortunately, we have discovered the presence of mice (in the school kitchen) which obviously poses a concern for the health and safety of our pupils and staff."

He continued, "We want to assure you that we are taking this matter very seriously. The school is working closely with the local authority to resolve the issue. In the meantime, to ensure that all pupils have access to healthy meals, we will provide packed lunches until the situation is fully addressed."
