Swansea Christmas parade 2024: The best pictures as thousands cheer on annual event

by · Wales Online

This year's Christmas parade in Swansea was a huge success as thousands of people flocked to the city centre to watch the annual event which included the Christmas lights switch-on. The parade, on Sunday, November 17, was full of energy with professional entertainers, marching bands, floats, costumed characters and festive inflatables parading through the city's streets.

Santa himself even showed up to switch on the Christmas lights. The free event held by Swansea Council was also attended by 1st Cwmbwrla Brownies, dressed as fairies with illuminated woodland animals, Tiny Toes Ballet, wrapped as Christmas presents with bright lights and bows, and Sketty Park Community Theatre, following a well-known panto theme with a dwarf called Sprout accompanying Snow White. The children of Mellin Theatre Arts, a local theatre school based at Swansea’s Grand Theatre, also joined in the fun alongside Swansea Community Farm and their ‘Festive Farmers’ carrying animal lanterns made with willow, and St Thomas Church, which does much to help and support vulnerable people through its food bank and night shelter, and got to 'shine a light in the darkness.'
