Merseyside Police has released a number of pieces of CCTV to help with their investigations

Every month Merseyside Police release a number of CCTV images which investigating officers believe can assist them in various probes around the region. Officers want to speak with a number of people who they believe could hold vital answers when it comes to solving their investigations.

This month police have released CCTV images relating to incidents including assaults in Thatto Heath and Liverpool city centre; burglaries on Lark Lane and Old Swan and a hate crime in Halewood, amongst others. As a local newspaper, the ECHO shares the CCTV images to assist with the police investigations and help the victims of crime find justice.

As well as the gallery below, the ECHO has shared a number of recent appeals regarding the various riots in Southport, Liverpool city centre and Walton that started on July 29 and continued until the following weekend.   1. CCTV appeal following assault in Thatto Heath

    Police are issuing an image of three males and a female who may have information following an assault in Thatto Heath in July. At around 6.55pm on Sunday, July 21, a 16-year-old boy was confronted by at least five males and assaulted on the field at the top of Govett Road. He sustained injuries to his head, face and knee which required hospital treatment.
    Extensive enquiries are ongoing, and at this stage two boys have been arrested in connection with this incident, and are on conditional bail. They are:
    A 15-year-old boy from St Helens, arrested on suspicion of Section 47 assault and Section 4 public order offence
    A 16-year-old boy from Thatto Heath, arrested on suspicion of Section 47 assault and Section 4 public order offence
    Detective Constable Wallace said: “We are determined to find those responsible for this cowardly attack and put them before the courts. If you were in the park at the time, or passing by and may have seen or captured the incidents or a group acting suspiciously, please come forward as any detail could be vital.”

  2. CCTV appeal following shop burglary in Old Swan

    Police are releasing CCTV images of two men who could have information that may assist with enquiries following a reported burglary of a shop in Old Swan on Saturday, August 3. At around 4.50pm, it was reported that two men entered Richies Fruitiques Boutique on St Oswald Street when one man reached over the counter and attempted to grab money from the till.
    The shop assistant intervened but was pushed over and held down while the other suspect took money from the till. The two suspects then made off along Prescot Road in the direction of Green Lane. No injuries were sustained but the victim was left very shaken.
    Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted, and detectives have issued a CCTV images of two men they believe could assist in their investigation. Detective Inspector Darren Taylor said: “This was a very distressing experience for the victim who was left in a state of shock and thankfully was not injured.

    “This happened while the victim was trying to make an honest living, and we are determined to catch the suspect responsible so they can’t target anyone else. Theft from a business is not a victimless crime. I am appealing for the men featured in these images, or anyone who recognises them to come forward. We believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries."

  3. CCTV appeal following burglary in Aigburth

    Police are issuing CCTV images in connection with a burglary at a restaurant in Aigburth. At around 2.40am on Monday, August 12 access was forced to Love and Rockets on Lark Lane and cash was stolen.
    Extensive enquiries are ongoing, and detectives would like to identify those pictured as they may have information to assist. One male is of average build, wearing a dark coloured hooded top and trainers, with a head torch, face mask and gloves. The second male is also of average build, wearing a dark coloured tracksuit top, black gilet and gloves.
    Detective Inspector Christopher Carlin said: “We understand access was gained via Hadassah Grove and two men forced open a safe. We are hoping that someone will recognise the men in the CCTV images and will come forward with information to help our investigation.

  4. CCTV appeal following assault in Liverpool city centre

    Detectives have issued CCTV images of a man who could have information that may assist with their enquiries following an assault in Liverpool city centre. It was reported that between 7pm and 7.30pm on Saturday, August 3 a man was walking with his family along Church Street when a group of men pushed him to the floor punched and kicked him in the face and spat at him in an unprovoked attack.
    The assault occurred on the same day that disorder occurred in Liverpool city centre. The victim, a man in his 20s, suffered bruising to his face and a cut to the eye which required medical attention.
    CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect responsible, and detectives have issued two images of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.
    Detective Inspector Darren Taylor said: “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack that left the victim in a state of shock and requiring hospital treatment. This took place on the same day of the disorder in Liverpool city centre which saw innocent people caught up in the shocking scenes of that day.
    “I am appealing to the man featured in the two images, or anyone who recognises him to come forward. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries. We also encourage people to come forward if you know anything about the incident which will help with our investigation.”

  1. CCTV appeal following hate crime in Halewood

    Police are releasing CCTV images of a man who could have information that may assist with enquiries following a report of a hate crime in Halewood on Thursday, August 8. At around 5.40am, a report was made that a teenage boy had been walking along Higher Road towards Hunts Cross at around 5.15am when he was subjected to abuse by a male cycling behind.
    Shortly after, the victim’s father saw the suspect nearby, at which point the suspect caused damage to his car using his own bicycle. Extensive enquiries are ongoing and detectives would like to identify the male pictured as he may have information to assist.
    Detective Inspector Yoseph Al-Ramadhan said: “Our enquiries are ongoing into this incident and the victims and family are extremely shaken by this despicable incident, and we are supporting them as our investigation continues. Hate crime will never be tolerated on Merseyside, and we understand the distress and upset that being targeted in this way causes.
    “I am appealing to the man featured in this image, or anyone who recognises him to please contact us. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”

  2. CCTV appeal following attempted robbery in Liscard

    Police have issued CCTV images of a man who may have information following an attempted robbery in Liscard. At around 11.15am on Saturday 13 July, it was reported that a man approached a woman aged in her 70s outside Liscard Stop and Shop, on Wallasey Road, and took her handbag.
    The woman was able to wrestle the handbag back from the man and he left the scene on foot. Since the incident, extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been carried out and police are now in a position to issue an image of man who we believe could have information. Detective Inspector Andy Schofield said: “To target a woman aged in her 70s in such an aggressive manner is appalling and won’t be tolerated.

  3. CCTV following robbery in Sefton Park

    Police are releasing CCTV images of a male they want to speak with because officers believe he could have information about a reported robbery in Sefton Park. At around 5am on Sunday, August 4, it was reported that a 19-year-old male was sat on a bench near Oasis in the Park café, which is within Sefton Park, when he was approached by two males on pedal bikes.
    The two males have threatened the victim, claiming they have a knife, before taking his cash and bank cards. Extensive enquiries are ongoing and detectives would like to identify the male pictured as he may have information to assist.
    Detective Inspector Chris Carlin said: “Our investigation is ongoing into this incident and if you recognise the male pictured, please come forward. Although the images are not of the best quality, we are hoping that his appearance, clothing and the circumstances of this incident will prompt people with information to come forward.”

  1. CCTV appeal following racially aggravated incident in Wavertree

    Detectives have issued CCTV images of a man who could have information that may assist with their enquiries following an alleged racially aggravated incident in a Wavertree shop. On Tuesday, September 3 a man entered a mobile shop on Picton Road and following a disagreement he became aggressive and made racist remarks to the shop assistant.
    He then left the shop and when the assistant followed him he brandished a knife. No injuries were sustained. The offender then rode off on a black electric pedal bike.
    Detective Inspector James Halpin said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim, who should not feel intimidated or threatened in this manner while trying to earn an honest living. We will thoroughly investigate reports of those targeted through hate crime.”
    CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect responsible, and detectives have issued images of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.
    Detective Inspector Halpin added: “Our continued enquires have led to this CCTV image of a man who may be able to assist with our investigation. I am appealing to the man featured in this image, or anyone who recognises him, to come forward. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”

  2. CCTV appeal following attempted robbery in Anfield

    Detectives have issued further CCTV images of two more males who could have information to assist with their enquiries following an attempted robbery in Anfield on Tuesday, July 30.

    At around 8.30pm it was reported that a woman in her thirties was approached by four males on Breck Road. She was attacked by one of the males and suffered bruising and swelling to her head. The males then attempted to take her mobile phone before running away when members of the public intervened.

    CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspects responsible. A 16-year-old boy from Anfield has been arrested on suspicion of Attempted robbery and conditionally bailed pending further enquiries.

    Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said: “Our investigation continues into this despicable attack. We are today appealing to the males featured in the images, or anyone who recognises them to come forward. We believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”

  3. CCTV following stabbing in Liverpool city centre

    Police have issued CCTV images of three males we want to trace following a stabbing in Liverpool city centre. Officers were contacted at 8.55pm on Thursday, August 22 and found a 21-year-old man on Church Street with multiple stab wounds to the back.
    It’s believed that the victim was involved in an altercation with around seven young males before the incident occurred. Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital. He has since been released.
    Following enquiries, a 16-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries. Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said: “We are continuing to appeal for anyone who was in Church Street on the evening of Thursday 22 August and has information to come forward.
    “We have issued images of three males who we believe could assist with our enquiries and would ask anyone who recognises them to contact us we believe they could assist our investigation. We are also asking for anyone who recorded the incident on their mobile phone to share the footage with us so we can continue to make progress with our enquiries.
    “Knife crime has no place on the streets of Merseyside and we will continue to do everything in our powers to combat it, bring offenders to justice and remove weapons from our streets, so please come forward and tell us what you know.”
