Thugs steal Centenary bank keys

by · The Observer

Police in Kagadi are hunting for unidentified thugs who allegedly stole three keys belonging to Centenary bank Kagadi branch.

The thieves targeted the home of Tom Luswata, a banking officer at Centenary bank, breaking into his residence in Namilyango Cell, Kagadi Town Council and stealing the keys to the bank’s entrance doors on Wednesday night.

Additionally, they made off with Luswata’s shoes and a jacket. The theft was discovered when Luswata woke up on Thursday morning and immediately reported the incident to the bank manager, Johnson Galimaka, who then informed the police.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region police spokesperson, confirmed that detectives swiftly responded, rushing to the Centenary bank branch to check for any unauthorized access. Fortunately, the bank was found secure, with no signs of intrusion.

Hakiza suggested that the thieves may have specifically targeted Luswata, possibly aware of his role at the bank. The incident caused disruptions to bank operations, as management struggled to force open the doors to resume business.
