Kildare gardaí investigating following unsuccessful criminal damage by fire attempt

Gardaí in County Kildare are investigating following an incident where there was an unsuccessful criminal damage by fire attempt made.

The incident was discussed on KFM on Wednesday, October 9 last, during one of its programmes.

Gda Brian Carroll of Newbridge Garda Station said that the incident took place on October 5 last, at around 5.30am in the Chapel View area of Kilcock.

"A number of tyres were slashed on a white van," Gda Carroll explained.

He also said that an empty can of diesel was found at the scene, and that the perpetrators tried to ignite it but were unsuccessful in doing so.

Gda Carroll concluded by urging anyone with information to contact Kilcock Garda Station on 01 675 7390.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about the incident, a garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are aware of an incident of criminal damage involving a vehicle that occurred in Kilcock, County Kildare on October 5, 2024 at approximately 5am.

"No arrests have been made."

"Investigations are ongoing," the spokesperson concluded.
