Wicklow TD Jennifer Whitmore has congratulated members of the Blessington & District Forum on the opening of the Foróige Youth Hub in the town last Thursday, November 21.

“I was delighted to join the community in Blessington for the opening of their brand-new Foróige Youth Hub. This is a really exciting project and opportunity for the community here and will offer vital youth work services as well as a safe and supportive space for young people in Blessington and West Wicklow,” commented Deputy Whitmore, who is the Social Democrats spokesperson for Children.

“This was very much a community-led project with members of the Blessington & District Forum taking the lead and working with local business leaders, Wicklow County Council, local and national representatives as well as Foróige to deliver this much needed youth space in Blessington. I’d like to congratulate Carmel Cashin, Andra Coogan Johnston and Jason Mulhall for their determination and commitment to this project and Kilian McGreal for his generosity and unwavering support for the development of this service here,” added Ms Whitmore.

“As a parent of teenagers, I am very aware of the importance of providing spaces like this for young people in our communities. Foróige provide an amazing service and support for our younger generations, and it is fantastic that these services and supports are now available in West Wicklow,” concluded Jennifer Whitmore.
