Free blood pressure and pulse checks with Newbridge Kildare Lions Club

The free checks will take place at Dunnes Stores, Newbridge next Friday

Newbridge Kildare Lions Club is pleased to announce a collaborative initiative with the Irish Heart Foundation to
provide free blood pressure and pulse checks for the local community.

This event which is organised by Lion Ger Melia aims to raise awareness about the prevalence of undiagnosed high blood pressure among adults over 50, and the potential risk of associated health complications.

According to recent statistics revealed by the Irish Heart Foundation, a staggering two in three adults over the age of 50 have high blood pressure, yet half of them are unaware of their condition, underscoring the critical importance of regular health
checks.

To address this alarming trend, the free blood pressure and pulse checks will be available at Dunnes Stores, Newbridge, on Friday, October 11, from 9am to 4.45pm.

The event is supported by esteemed healthcare organisations including Bristol-Myers Squibb and Local Newbridge Company Pfizer, in alignment with the mission to promote heart health and disease prevention within the local community.

A spokesperson from the Irish Heart Foundation stated that "during a heart health check, our expert nurses will provide attendees with personalised heart health information and advice following their blood pressure and pulse examination.

"By equipping individuals with the knowledge and resources to reduce their risk of heart disease and stroke, we aim to positively impact the well-being of our community members."
