Trouble erupted in Bromford Lane in Washwood Heath, with two men suffering head injuries and two men arrested on suspicion of wounding

Two men have suffered serious head injuries and two have been arrested after trouble erupted on a busy Birmingham street. The incident was sparked in Bromford Lane in Washwood Heath at around midday on Sunday (October 6).

Multiple police vehicles and ambulances were called to the street, the main A4040 route from the M6 through east Birmingham to Coventry Road. An area was cordoned off near to the Bromford Lane Open Space park on the opposite side of the road.

Videos circulated online shows around a dozen police and ambulance vehicles were called to the incident. West Midlands Police said that on arrival to the scene officers found two men with head injuries.

They were treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital. Bromford Lane remained open but a police cordon was in place. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of wounding. West Midlands Police said it was conducting ‘house-to-house enquiries’ to try and establish what had happened.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “We were called to reports of a disorder in Bromford Lane at just after midday today (Sunday, October 6). Officers attended and found two men with head injuries, who were treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

“Two men have been arrested on suspicion of wounding as investigations get underway to establish exactly what has happened. House-to-house enquiries are continuing with CCTV being retrieved and reviewed.
