Kings Heath High Street closes after crash destroys pedestrian crossing

A main commuting road was closed following a crash. Police were called to High Street in Kings Heath after a collision involving four vehicles, around 6.15am on Thursday (Nov 14).

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident. Three recovery trucks were needed and the road was closed by police for up to half an hour.

The scene was later reopened. West Midlands Police said: "We were called to High Street, Kings Heath, shortly before 6.15am this morning (Thurs) following a collision involving four vehicles. No-one was hurt."

Sarah Chaundler who campaigns for safer streets and promotes walking and cycling in the city, said she was alerted to the incident. She said: "If this had happened one hour later, the pavements and this pedestrian crossing would have been teeming with school children.

"Thankfully no one was killed or seriously injured on this occasion," she added.
