Eamonn Holmes has issued a "last words" update in a poignant statement about death. GB News and former ITV star Eamonn, who split from ex-wife Ruth Langsford earlier this year, has suffered with a number of health issues over the years.

He admitted he has thought about his death as he looked back on his life and discussed assisted dying. The 64-year-old said: "I would say the thing about life is, and I'm going to get this put on my headstone..." One of his co-stars interrupted saying: "'I told you I was ill', that's what you'll have."

Eamonn said: "No, I'm going to put 'it wasn't everything it was cracked up to be'." The Northern Irish TV star and presenter then added: "No, that is a genuine experience of my life. Now, I've had a pretty good life but I look back at it and think 'is that it?'"

His chronic condition began unexpectedly in 2021 and soon he was unable to walk without a stick to help him. The pain was caused by a dislocated pelvis, which later resulted in him sustaining three slipped disks. While recovering from surgery, he fell down the stairs at his home in Weybridge and broke his shoulder.

Speaking at the TRIC Awards in June, Eamonn told the press: "I went for an operation a year and a half ago and it went wrong. I got two things in my back that I didn't want." He has previously mentioned feeling like he's living on "borrowed time", given that his father passed away from a heart attack at 65.

A further spine and neck procedure in 2023 did little to alleviate Eamonn's pain. The TV presenter admitted that the pain has led to him having countless "sleepless nights". Eamonn and Ruth announced their split in May 2024.
