"Lennie Williams attacked the girl back in 2020 when he was 19. The brave victim came forward to tell us what happened and we launched an investigation.

"We carried out a number of enquiries including obtaining statements from witnesses and reviewing phone messages. Williams, aged 24, from Goldstar Way, was arrested and charged with sexual assault of a female under 16.

"On 7 November at Birmingham Crown Court, Williams was jailed for two years and 10 months after pleading guilty to the charge. He was handed a restraining order and placed on the sex offenders register."

Following sentencing, DC Garratt said: “This child has had to wait a long time for justice. She was so brave and patient and I am thankful that she was able to come forward and report this because she has protected potential other victims from harm.”

The force added that specially trained staff from their complex child abuse department helped support and guide the victim through the court process.
