Good Morning Britain's Rob Rinder didn't mince his words when he weighed in on a new twist to ITV's The Voice. On Friday's programme, Rob and co-host Kate Garraway discussed the upcoming episode with entertainment correspondent Scarlette Douglas, who revealed an exclusive look at the weekend's show.

As contestants gear up for the live performances, mentor will.i.am has taken a futuristic approach by enlisting AI assistance to coach his team. Scarlette told viewers that Felicia, the digital assistant, is joining the ITV judge to help determine the competition's progression, marking a first for the series.

However, it wasn't for everyone, it turns out. Rob Rinder expressed strong disapproval of the move.

In response to Kate's query about whether the contestants were satisfied with the AI addition, Rob condemned: "It's a terrible idea! Absolutely awful."

A surprised Scarlette pressed Rob for his reasons for being so vehemently against the use of cutting-edge technology on the show, reports the Mirror.

He explained: "The appreciation of music is human, right? It's what binds us. The idea of bringing AI I think really devalues it."

Rob warned the GMB audience that even AI pioneer Professor Geoffrey Hinton has cautioned that technology could spell doom for humanity.

He lamented: "Now we're ruining talent shows as well! ".

Despite Rob's objections, Scarlette suggested that AI could be beneficial in assessing contestants' pitch accuracy during their performances.

Kate appeared to be intrigued, remarking: "Don't you think it's fascinating to see how AI offers a different approach? What if it is something that a human mentor hasn't done? ".

Revealing to his singers that an AI bot would assist in determining their future on the show, their astonishment was palpable.

He shared with them: "I converse with Felicia pretty much every day."

One contestant confessed to the camera, expressing their surprise: "I was expecting a human! ".
