Firefighters at scene of collision on major Birmingham road

A main commuting route was blocked tonight following a collision with firefighters at the scene. The emergency services were called to Bromford lane following reports of a car crash in the southbound lane this evening (November 7).

There was extensive congestion and queueing traffic back to the A47 Heartlands Parkway and Wood Lane this evening before 7.30pm. National Express West Midlands Service number 11C was also diverted.

West Midlands Fire Service said they have two crews from Ward End at the scene and had no further information at present.

Traffic information service Inrix said: "Bromford Lane Southbound blocked, queueing traffic due to accident from Wood Lane to A47 Heartlands Parkway. Diversion - bus service 11C."

West Midlands Roads posted on X: "A4040 Bromford Lane southbound Tyburn Road to Bromford Gyratory #Bromford. Collision. Road blocked. Congestion in the area."

National Express said the 11C is being diverted via Tyburn Road, Kingsbury Road, Chester Road and Fort Parkway. Passengers are being urged to "allow more time for your journey."
