This shocking footage reveals the moment a car crashed into a family home while attempting to 'perform a U-turn' on their driveway. The CCTV video captures a grey Audi A3 travelling along a quiet road before making a sharp turn towards the front of a white property.

However, the hatchback suddenly accelerates towards the house, crashing into its side. Tragically, the building suffered 'significant structural damage' as the impact caused the outer wall to 'partially collapse'.

The horrifying incident occurred on a residential street in Blackburn, Lancs. , around 6.30pm on Friday (Oct 4).

An eyewitness reported hearing a 'loud bang' when the car hit the property, and it's believed a family was inside at the time of the crash. Children's toys scattered on the driveway suggest that youngsters often played there.

Local residents, aware of the collision, said the dead-end road had recently become a popular turning spot for visitors to a nearby religious school. They claimed parents picking up their children from the academy frequently used private driveways for U-turns

They stated: "Nobody has been recruited to do anything. There are no wardens on duty. They have no control of this road whatsoever."

"Despite there being multiple entrances, people choose to use this road because of easy access."

Lancashire Police have been approached for a statement.
