An aspiring rapper uploaded an X-rated video of a woman to the internet and told her 'you're finished'. Akim Nicholson filmed the victim performing a sex act then later messaged her telling to 'check social media'.

The vile 35-year-old from Tyseley uploaded it to social media channels and urged others to share it, Birmingham Crown Court was told. He tagged the horrified woman and sarcastically messaged her saying she would 'get more followers'.

He also hurled verbal abuse at her and said 'your whole year just got ruined'. Following a trial Nicholson, of Holcombe Road, was today found guilty of disclosing a private sexual film, also referred to as 'revenge porn'.

He was cleared of an offence of voyeurism in relation to an allegation he recorded the victim without her knowledge and consent. Nicholson initially put his head in his hands after the verdicts were announced before giving the jury a thumbs up as he was led down to the court cells.

He was heard to shout 'yes' behind the door. Nicholson was already in custody on remand and will be sentenced tomorrow morning. Dr Olivia Whitworth, prosecuting, had opened the case saying that he uploaded a sensitive video compilation of the victim before messaging her saying 'I'll get you way more followers now babe everyone'.

He further told the woman 'you're on people's stories' and said 'you are done for I'm tryna get you viral today'. Nicholson called her a 's***' and 'tramp' in other foul messages, while one said: "...one day you will see a video of you flying around the socials and your whole year just got ruined...".

Dr Whitworth said: "Just to exacerbate the situation further, this defendant shared the video to people directly and asked them to share it again and send it to others. He said words to the effect of 'send this little s*** around for me please brudda'."

The victim bravely gave her account in court but her evidence had to be halted at an early stage due to arrogant Nicholson smirking and visibly reacting while sitting in the dock. When the trial resumed she was behind a court screen so she could not see him.

She told the jury: "There were voice notes he sent to me he received back from people he knew that were saying where they were going to share the video. For example I remember one of them saying 'yeah that's fine, shared it around Liverpool', another saying London. So many places. It was confusing."

Asked how it made her feel the victim said: "Very degraded and embarrassed. Angry. Hurt. Let down. Lots of different emotions.

"Felt like I wanted to move house. Like I wanted to run away. Leave my job. All the stuff he probably wanted me to feel, I felt."

Nicholson denied the allegations. He claimed the victim had access to his social media accounts and shared the material to them herself.

The aspiring musician, who is also a father, has become a notorious criminal in Birmingham having been in and out of prison since he was 14. In 2020 he smashed up a dock at Birmingham Magistrates' Court and sent a dock officer crashing down a flight of stairs after being refused bail.

Then in 2022 he broke into his own mother's home, after being kicked out, and filmed himself trashing the place including pouring bleach everywhere. Nicholson has committed more than 50 offences including kidnap, robbery, criminal damage, aggravated burglary and acts of violence.

Courts have previously been told he has had a traumatic life and suffers from mental health issues. Following his audible outburst today his barrister Ekwall Tiwana told the court: "He is not a very well man."
