Police swarm on Hagley Road as officers use stinger to stop car and make arrest

A man was arrested after police used a stinger to stop a car on a major Birmingham road. Hagley Road was closed as officers descended on the scene.

Police said officers carried out a stop and search of a vehicle and found a quality of drugs. The driver, a man who was aged in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis.

He remains in police custody. Police inquiries are ongoing.

A police spokesman told BirminghamLive: "A man has been arrested after a quantity of cannabis was found in a car in Birmingham. Earlier today, officers carried out a stop and search of a vehicle in Hagley Road.

"Inside, they found a quantity of cannabis. The driver, a man in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis. Enquiries are ongoing."
