Tributes left for Edgbaston shooting victim as murder probe gathers pace

Bright bouquets of flowers were left on Rotton Park Road after a man was fatally gunned down on the residential Edgbaston street just before 11pm on Friday, November 22.
The male victim, in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene and has not officially been identified. West Midlands Police said his family are being supported by specialist officers.
A second man in his 30s was found injured and BirminghamLive understands he is continuing to fight for his life in hospital. The scene was quiet on Monday morning when BirminghamLive visited, with seven striking bouquets left in tribute to the victim.

Police said on Sunday that a man, in his 30s, who was initially arrested, was released from the investigation. In a statement, the force said detectives were "working at pace to understand exactly what happened."
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We are continuing our murder investigation after a man was shot dead and another was seriously injured in Birmingham on Friday night. We were called to Rotton Park Road, near the junction with City Road in Edgbaston, just before 11pm on Friday to report that two people had been shot.
"One man in his 30s was found injured at a bus stop and was taken to hospital where he remains. The second man, in his 20s, was found in a car but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family are being supported by officers.
"A man in his 30s was arrested but has now been released from the investigation."
Det Chief Insp Laura Harrison, from West Midlands Police Homicide team, said: "This was a tragic incident, and we’re working at pace to understand exactly what happened.
“The shooting took place near the busy junction with City Road and it may be that you have information which can help our investigation progress.
