Man dies after falling from Midland tower block

A Coventry man has tragically died after a fall from the balcony of Longfield House on Bell Green Road, with emergency services called to the scene around 1.30pm yesterday (Saturday, September 21).

The 46 year old's death is not being treated as suspicious, West Midlands Police have confirmed, stating that the matter would be passed on to the coroner. The exact floor from which he fell has not been disclosed by the police, but locals suggest it was from a considerable height.

Emergency response teams from West Midlands Ambulance and West Midlands Fire Service were dispatched, and a helicopter was also spotted at the location. A local resident informed CoventryLive about hearing shouting prior to the incident and contemplating whether to alert the authorities.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson stated they were present at the site for the duration of the afternoon, saying: "We were called to Bell Green Road, Coventry, just after 1.30pm, following reports of a man who had fallen from a balcony."

"Officers attended, but sadly the man died. His death is not being treated as suspicious, and will be referred to the coroner," reports Coventry Live.

Another resident described the event as distressing to CoventryLive, mentioning: "I saw the rescue helicopter land but I didn't see him fall."
