Motorcyclist killed in A500 hit-and-run crash near M6 as police hunt ‘dark vehicle’

A young motorcyclist has died after a suspected hit-and-run crash on a main road near the M6 motorway. The biker, in his 20s was found on the A500 near Audley, close to Junction 16 of the M6, shortly before 10pm on Friday (October 4).

Staffordshire Police said its officers attended the incident and found the motorcyclist had collided with the central reservation. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Now Staffordshire officers are looking to find a ‘dark-coloured vehicle’ and its driver, which is believed to have been involved in the fatal crash and which ‘left the scene prior to our arrival’.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “We are appealing for information after a motorcyclist died following a suspected non-stop collision on the A500 on Friday (October 4). We were called shortly before 10pm on Friday to the A500 at Audley towards junction 16 of the M6 following reports of a collision.

“Officers attended and found a motorbike in collision with a central reservation. Sadly, the motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. His next of kin has been informed. A file will be prepared for HM Coroner.

“A dark-coloured vehicle was reported as involved in the collision and left the scene prior to our arrival. We are appealing for anyone who saw what happened or who may have relevant dashcam footage of the area at the time to get in touch.
