Thousands of household are set to get HUNDREDS of pounds worth of household appliances and energy bill help. Under the extended Household Support Fund, from the new Labour Party government, people can benefit from freebies through to March 31, 2025.

Thousands of Brits are struggling with household appliances and energy bill costs but a scheme has been set in place, offering help these struggling households. The Household Support Fund was initially set up by the Conservative Party.

The support available through the Household Support Fund can vary depending on where you live, but most councils offer help with energy bills, food support, and household essentials. The help you can get depends on your postcode.

Every council in England has been given a share of £421million cash by the government to distribute to local low income households. Birmingham City Council has announced £200 payments to help residents who are hard-up and struggling.

The local authority states: "On 2 September, the DWP announced that the Household Support Fund will be extended from October 2024 to March 2025. Any hardship grant requests received near the end of the current funding period, which ended on 30 September 2024, are now on a waiting list.

"If you have submitted a successful enquiry and are on the waiting list, you will be contacted within the next four weeks to complete your full application. Make sure your voicemail is on so we can leave a message if we miss you, and that your phone can receive calls from private or withheld numbers.

"Hardship grant requests will open again from November 2024 until 31 March 2025." Hardship payments are intended to help households with everyday household essentials such as energy and food, with grant payments of up to £200 per household.

Receiving a grant from this fund will not impact any other benefits you may be receiving or may be entitled to.
