Man, 55, due in court following firearms discovery in Birmingham

A man is due in court following the discovery of live firearms in Newtown, police say. Officers searched an address on Salstar Close in Newtown on Thursday, October 31, where they allegedly found weapons.

Robert Brough, aged 55, was arrested and has since been charged with three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon. He was remanded into custody and is due before Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning (Nov 2).

A statement from West Midlands Police said: "A man has been charged after we recovered firearms from an address in Birmingham earlier this week. Robert Brough, aged 55, from Birmingham, has been charged with three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon.

"He has been remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning (Nov 2). This comes after officers recovered live viable firearms from an address on Salstar Close, Birmingham on Thursday (Oct 31)."

"Our enquiries are continuing. We’re continuing to take guns off the streets as part of Operation Target," the force added.
