DWP Cold Weather Payments worth £25 'activated' for 10,000 people

Cold Weather Payments from the DWP are set to land in 18 postcodes in the UK after days of chaos from Storm Bert and heavy snowfall.
If the average temperature in your area has been, or is expected to be, 0ºC (32ºF) or below for seven days in a row between November and March, you should get a payment of £25 a week. Those claiming Pension Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA), income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Universal Credit, Support for Mortgage Interest may be eligible for the Cold Weather Payment.
The full list of postcodes receiving the DWP Cold Weather Payment includes CA9 Leadgate, Cumbria, CA10 Cliburn, Cumbria, CA11 Catterlen, Cumbria, CA12 Keswick, Cumbria, CA16 Appleby-in-Westmorland, Cumbria and CA17 Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria.

The postcodes triggered include LA8 Kendal, Cumbria, LA9 Kendal, Cumbria, LA10 Sedbergh, Cumbria, LA21 Coniston, Cumbria, LA22 Lakes, Cumbria, LA23 Windermere, Cumbria, NE19 Elsdon, Northumberland and NE47 Allendale, Northumberland.
Other areas triggered also include NE48 Bellingham, Northumberland, NE49 Haltwhistle, Northumberland, TD9 Scottish Borders (parts in England) and also DG14 Dumfries border (parts in England). You should automatically receive a Cold Weather Payment if you get Guarantee Pension Credit. Contact the Northern Ireland Pension Centre if you think you should have received a Cold Weather Payment but didn’t.
The government explains on its Cold Weather Payment page: "Tell the Pension Service or Jobcentre Plus if you go into hospital - this could affect your payment. If you’re getting Universal Credit, sign in to your account and add a note to your journal.
"If you do not have an online account, ring the Universal Credit helpline instead. The phone number is on letters about your Universal Credit."
