Bromford Lane trouble update after two rushed to hospital with head injuries

Two men were arrested on suspicion of wounding after violence erupted in Washwood Heath

Police have issued an update after two men were rushed to hospital with serious head injuries after violence erupted on a busy city street. Trouble broke out in Bromford Lane, Washwood Heath, at around noon on Sunday, October 6.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of wounding following the incident. West Midlands Police said today, October 9, that one of the men arrested had been released with no further action.

The other was bailed under strict conditions. The force, which is still investigating the incident, did not provide an update on the victim's injuries.

Emergency services rushed to the street after the violence broke out. An area was cordoned off, near to the Bromford Lane Open Space park, on the opposite side of the road.

Videos circulated online showed around a dozen police and ambulance vehicles were called to the incident.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said this morning: "The investigation is still ongoing. One of the arrested men has been released with no further action, while the other has been bailed with conditions."

A force spokesperson previously told BirminghamLive: "We were called to reports of a disorder in Bromford Lane. Officers attended and found two men with head injuries, who were treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

“Two men were arrested on suspicion of wounding as investigations get underway to establish exactly what has happened. House-to-house enquiries are continuing with CCTV being retrieved and reviewed.
