Nick Knowles and his fiancee Katie Dadzie have come close to calling it quits in their relationship, yet they've managed to reignite the flame.

The beloved DIY SOS presenter's future on Strictly Come Dancing hangs in the balance due to an injury sustained while practising a Charleston routine, yet he remains hopeful. Alongside his dance partner Luba Mushtuk, Nick is optimistic he will bounce back in time to perform 'Rain on the Roof' from Paddington 2 during movie week, with rehearsals moving forward.

Spirited, at 60 years old, Nick reflects this resolve not just on the dance floor but also in his personal life. He and Katie, the 33 year old founder of a lingerie company, had experienced a rocky period which nearly led her to end the partnership....

Before stepping onto the Strictly stage, Nick and Katie candidly discussed the challenges posed by their 27-year age difference with Closer magazine, highlighting the significance of carving out valuable time together amidst their busy lives.

As he readies himself for his third marriage, Nick revealed: "We try to do some amazing trips we've just come back from Dubai which was fantastic. And we like to treat ourselves with overnight stays at Home House. It's a members' club in London and you don't need to be a member to stay there. The rooms are beautiful. It's almost like a museum because it's so stunning.", reports the Mirror.

Businesswoman Katie, who is at the helm of lingerie brand Boa Boa, shared: "Nick is definitely a romantic. He cooks lovely dinners for me, something that he'll know I really like, especially when I'm not feeling great. We always have a date night where we'll pick a really great restaurant. We also love hotel stays and nice holidays! ".

However, it hasn't been all smooth sailing for the duo, with Katie, a mother of two, initially finding it tough to deal with Nick's celebrity status in the early stages of their romance. Speaking to The Times, her fiance Nick revealed that Katie was left heartbroken by 'horrible, racist abuse' from online trolls.

He said: "You just get people being properly vile. So you understand when she goes, 'I don't know if I want to be around this'."

Nick admitted that he didn't attempt to persuade Katie to remain in the relationship as he empathised with her feelings, but they have since navigated past this difficult period. These days, Katie avoids being snapped with Nick to sidestep any 'gold digger' labels, even though the besotted husband-to-be asserts that she's 'wealthier and more successful'.

Reflecting on navigating romance under the public eye, Nick, a father of four, added: "You have to be brave. You can't let previous difficulties stop you falling in love, because you close yourself off to the possibility of being happy."

The couple, who have been together for three years following a chance encounter at their children's play centre, are now happily engaged. Nick popped the question to Katie in New Orleans during the summer of 2022, to which she joyfully said yes.

This update coincides with Nick reaching out to his Strictly Come Dancing supporters before Saturday's show. He shared a hopeful message on Instagram: "I have to see how I get on - and then a decision will be made on Friday. I just wanted to take this moment to say thank you for all the well wishes that I've received and encouragement from everybody. And I'm hopeful that I will be dancing on Saturday."

Unfortunately, Nick sustained a leg injury while practising last Friday as he attempted a leap to catch up with the music, resulting in what he described as 'a bit of a collapse'. Since then, he's had an MRI and is undergoing daily treatment.
