Major police update in Marston Green murder investigation

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a boy was stabbed to death in Solihull. The dawn raid follows the fatal attack on a 17-year-old boy, named locally as 'Reuben', in Marston Green.

West Midlands Police said the teenage victim was knifed on Station Road, at around 6.20pm on Tuesday, October 29. Despite the best efforts from medics, he sadly died from his injuries.

The force said a teenager was held on suspicion of murder after the arrest was made in Birmingham at 4.30am today (Friday, November 1). He remains in police custody as the investigation continues. The second arrest follows a 17-year-old boy who was also held on suspicion of murder. He was later bailed.

In a statement, police said: "We've arrested a teenager on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a boy aged 17. We were called to Station Road in Marston Green, Solihull at around 6.20pm on Tuesday.

"A 17-year-old boy was treated for his injuries by the ambulance service, but despite their best efforts, he sadly died, and a murder investigation has now been launched. This morning at around 4.30am, we arrested a teenager in Birmingham on suspicion of murder, and he remains in police custody as our investigation continues.

"Our thoughts remain firmly with the victim's family and loved ones at this truly tragic time, and they are being supported by our officers. A 17-year-old boy who was arrested on Tuesday has been released on police bail.
