Man stabbed and gun fired during horror Aston 'disorder'

West Midlands Police is appealing for information after a gun was fired during disorder in Aston

A man has been arrested after a gun was fired when armed disorder broke out in Aston yesterday evening. Police were called to the junction of Witton Road and Endicott Road just after 7:45pm on Saturday, October 12.

A short time after the disorder, a 21-year-old man presented in hospital with stab wounds, which are not thought to be life threatening. Following initial police enquiries, he is thought to have been involved in the disorder.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and will now be questioned. West Midlands Police has issued an appeal to the public for information and 'stepped up reassurance patrols' in the area following the disturbance.

Police were called to the junction of Witton Road and Endicott Road just before 8pm yesterday evening (October 12). When officers arrived, those involved had already left the area.

The force has since recovered evidence of a gun having been discharged. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said today: "We know how concerning such incidents are and we're reviewing CCTV - alongside other enquiries - to identify everyone who was involved.

"No-one else is known to have been injured at this stage but we've stepped up reassurance patrols in the area."
