A inner-city Birmingham area rocked by a murder tragedy is hit by more than a dozen crimes every day, it can be revealed. According to the latest police.uk stats, Lozells and East Handsworth recorded 484 offences in one month, the daily average of around 15 per day.

Almost half of those crimes, a total of 220, constituted violence or sex offences. Across July, 29 people were victims of robbery, 40 suffered criminal damage or arson and 19 were burgled.

Concerned residents also reported 37 anti-social behaviour offences amid what was branded 'mayhem' in the area. After a murder in Lozells last Monday, September 30, Coun Waseem Zaffar said Hunters Road had been plagued by trouble.
