Birmingham gun charge suspect to appear in court

A man has been charged with a gun offence. Karl Lewin was due to appear at court today, Friday, November 8.

The 41-year-old has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He was remanded to appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court.

It comes after officers discovered a gun at an address in Frederick Road, Stechford, on Wednesday, November 6. Another man, 40, who was also arrested, was bailed while police inquiries continued.

In a statement, police said: "We've charged a man after recovering a gun in Stechford. We discovered the firearm at an address in Frederick Road on Wednesday afternoon.

"Karl Lewin, 41, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He was remanded to appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court today.

"A 40-year-old man who was also arrested has been bailed while our enquiries continue. We're committed to taking weapons off the street and are running Operation Target in the fight against serious and organised crime."
