A vet has shared why one of the most loved dogs in the UK is one she would never own. Sharing her list of dogs to steer clear of, one was very common in the UK - Dachshunds.

She shared a list of dog breeds she would steer clear of owning, citing stubbornness and sass as traits in smaller dogs that put her off.

Saddy Baddy, armed with a decade's experience from clinics, took to social media to dish out advice on everything from the imposing American Akita to the spotted Dalmatian, spelling out why Pomeranians and Basset Hounds don't make her pet wish list.

Speaking candidly online, she announced: "Dog breeds I LOVE but wouldn't own as a vet professional of 10 years."

She further shared: "These are MY personal opinions based on MY personal experiences after working in the field for a decade."

"Everyone is entitled to their own opinions based on their own experiences. All dogs are good dogs in their own unique ways."

Leading off her revelations, she singled out the American Akita, known for requiring rigorous early training, a knack for socialising, and a tendency for same-sex aggression among animals.

Besides this, the vet tagged these dogs as 'fearful' and 'protective', acknowledging their potential to become 'very powerful'.

Regarding Dachshunds, she asserted that she wouldnt ever keep one due to their 'skeletal structures', which she believes 'virtually guarantees orthopaedic issues'.

Furthermore, she called them 'stubborn and sassy' and indicated that they can be rather challenging when it comes to grooming sessions.

The vet explained that Belgian Tervurens are known to be 'possessive' of their people and require plenty of daily challenges to satisfy their mental and physical needs. They are also prone to hip and elbow malformation and epilepsy.

Furthermore, the animal expert wouldn't own a Dalmatian, explaining that while they have 'lots of energy', they are 'not very social with those outside of their family'. They can also be 'territorial' and are prone to bladder stones, blindness and deafness.

The vet also wouldn't own a Basset Hound, citing their propensity for ear infections and skin issues, as well as their 'stubborn' nature.
