Driver turns 'scary' Birmingham parking tickets into 'iconic' Halloween costume
by Ben Perrin, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/ben-perrin/ · Birmingham LiveA driver had a laugh at her own expense after turning her 'scary' parking tickets into an 'iconic' Halloween costume. Abi Herbert received two Birmingham City Council penalties in just 24 hours, having never had a ticket in her life.
The 27-year-old, from Moseley, got her first fine for overstaying the parking time by five-minutes on Moseley High Street last Friday, October 25. She then received her second fine after parking in a "confusing" restricted area, on Kings Heath High Street, the following day.
But Abi, who works in marketing, decided to use the recognisable ticket pouches as part of her outfit for a Halloween party later that night. She also used black and yellow hazardous themed tape wrapped around her top, skirt and shoes to complete the look.

Last night, Abi told BirminghamLive: "I just thought it's quite scary, isn't it? It was a bit of a nightmare. I had a Halloween party to go to on Saturday and didn't have a costume.
"I feel like the yellow and black stripy pouches the fines come in are kind of iconic. It's a pretty recognisable thing and I thought I could do something with this. Everyone who was from Birmingham at the party loved it."
She added, "The first fine was on Moseley High Street last Friday. I just looked at the time wrong. I was about five minutes longer than I should have been.
"Then the one on Saturday was on Kings Heath High Street. That one was so confusing. This is stupid, but I think it said something like 'disabled parking between this time and this time and no loading between this time and this time' or whatever. I looked at it for a good minute and thought, 'No, that's fine.'
"That wasn't my finest moment. I've never got a fine before, and now I've had two in 24 hours. I'll probably have to pay the fines.
"I've tagged the council in a post on social media and am hoping if I give them a good giggle, they might cancel one of the fines. They were both just honest mistakes. Their signs are so confusing."
