Martin Lewis has warned 900,000 credit card customers have HOURS left to get £150 cash just by doing their grocery shopping. The BBC Sounds and ITV star's team have spoken out on the Money Saving Expert website in a warning to customers.

MSE explained: "If you've got an HSBC Visa credit card, you may be able to earn up to £150 cashback on groceries, fuel and transport over the next three months – but you've only got until 11.59pm on Monday 30 September to check if you're eligible and opt in. It's a no brainer if you were planning to make these purchases anyway – as long as you pay your card off IN FULL so the interest doesn't wipe out your cashback earnings."

The offer is only available to people living in England, Scotland and Wales. HSBC told MSE that around 900,000 people can get the deal, and there's no minimum period on how long you must have had your credit card to bag the free cash.

MSE said: "Any cashback earned will be calculated at the end of the month and credited to your credit card account on the 15th of the following month. Of course, be mindful that cashback is never an excuse to overspend. And remember to pay off your card in full each month - or before any 0% deal you’re on ends - to avoid paying any interest."

"Groceries" includes online food shopping, corner shops and bakeries, but "excludes Amazon Fresh, department stores and takeaways", MSE warned. Fuel includes fuel purchased at UK service stations, electric vehicle charging and fuel dealers selling oil, wood, coal, etc.

Transport includes most public transport in the UK but none abroad. You won’t be eligible to receive cashback if you are over your credit limit or in arrears when we calculate your qualifying spend at the end of each calendar month during the promotional period, or if your HSBC Visa Credit Card account is closed before the date we apply the credit.

You’ll be entitled to a maximum of £50 cashback per calendar month, even if 10% of your qualifying spend is greater than this amount. The cashback will be credited directly to your HSBC Visa Credit Card on a monthly basis by 15th of next calendar month. HSBC’s decision will be final on which transactions qualify for the 10% cashback.
