Masses of fly-tipped rubbish near Walmley

Fury as 60 bags of waste dumped at back of Asda store

by · Birmingham Live

There was outrage after 60 bags of rubbish were fly-tipped at the back of an Asda branch and other stores in Sutton Coldfield. Black sacks of foam, building materials and boards were dumped across Walmley Ash Lane, Walmley, at the weekend.

The bags were ripped open with insulation strewn across the roadway, presenting a hazard to drivers. The eyesore was reported to Birmingham City Council.

The incident prompted condemnation on a Walmley Residents Association social media post. Kevin Taylor posted: "The bags looks like spray foam insulation removed from someone's loft, someone saw them load that up."

Chris Perks said: "Aren't some people absolutely horrible, I really hope there is such a thing as karma, I'd love to dump it all in their house.

Robert Ellet said: "This is outrageous. Our group Sutton Coldfield Litter Action Group are doing our very best to keep the streets of our town as clean and tidy as possible. This is heartbreaking.

"We need to all come together to report things like this to our own Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council and Birmingham City Council as soon as possible and catch these culprits."

The city council has said about fly-tipping: "Where waste is unlawfully dumped, we investigate incidents and do not hesitate to take enforcement action or prosecute offenders, as demonstrated in the past by many high-profile cases.”
