Remedy's Sam Lake Honoured with Andrew Yoon Legend Award

Kojima, Schafer, Druckmann, Lake

by · Push Square

Charismatic Remedy Entertainment boss Sam Lake has been honoured with the Andrew Yoon Legend Award, named the recipient by the New York Videogame Critics Circle. Lake has spent over two decades at Remedy, serving as creative director on both the Alan Wake and Control franchises. He's also a wonderful dancer.

The Andrew Yoon Legend Award is presented to creators to "recognize people and organizations that exhibited a significant, sustained body of work that shows exceptional artistic achievement and innovation." Last year, it was presented to Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann. Previous recipients include Hideo Kojima, Tim Schafer, and Reggie Fils-Aimé; Lake is in good company and has certainly earned his inclusion. The 2025 New York Game Awards will take place on 21st January at the SVA Theatre in Manhattan.

After Alan Wake II this is totally deserved. I'm excited to see what Control 2 will bring to the table- hopefully some better gameplay and characters. Jesse is not that interesting to me

Legends, all of them ❤️

Alan Wake 2 was fantastic and I'm thirsty for those DLCs.

I don't think alan wake 2 is innovative, kojima, tim schafer, and reggie (nintendo) sure, I don't know about the rest though.

I think you forgot his rather noticeable involvement in the Max Payne series. That said, I love Remedy and all their franchises/games. I’ve yet to play Alan Wake 2 and keep hearing great things. I might get it in the Christmas sale, though.

@wiiware In fact I think Reggie makes no sense, why is a marketing (non-creative) man getting a critics award? The others all did new, interesting stuff with story telling in games.

Heck yeah. Lake deserves that.

@wiiware i strongly AGREED with Tim Schafer but sorry im strongly DISAGREED with reggie. 😅
