Road closed as emergency services attend two-vehicle collision on Derbyshire border

Police have said the road could be closed for some time

Emergency services have been called to a crash close to the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire border and have told people to avoid the area for the time being. The A619 near Clowne is closed between the crossroads with the A618 and the De Rodes Arms roundabout following a collision.

The incident happened just before 10am and Derbyshire police have put out a warning to motorists, which said: "The road will be closed for sometime - please use alternative routes."

Firefighters are also at the scene and they have also put out a message on social media which read: "Firefighters and emergency services are dealing with a road traffic collision on the A619 near Clowne. The A619 is currently closed. Crews were called to attend the two-vehicle collision just before 10am. Please avoid the area."

People have reported seeing an air ambulance in the area on social media also.

Online travel information service Inrix is reporting that there is slow traffic in the area of the incident and that the road is blocked from the Harthill turn-off at Barlborough to the A618 Rotherham Road at Clowne.

Footnote: The road was reopened after six hours at around 4pm, and traffic eased in the local area. There has been no information about injuries given by the emergency services so far.
