A 65-year-old British holidaymaker has died after a fall at a hotel in Crete, Greece. The woman was on holiday with her husband when she fell. She was taken to Venizelio hospital by the emergency services and was treated in intensive care, but died as a result of her injuries.

The death follows another incident involving a British national who passed away in Kalavryta, Greece, while attempting to capture a photograph on October 11. It's believed he lost his balance on cliff edges whilst snapping pictures of fighter jets, reports the Mirror.

He suffered a collapse and despite efforts by his companions to revive him, he couldn't be saved. His body was later recovered from Vouraikos Gorge, near the River Vouraikos, which is within the bounds of the Chelmos-Vouraikos National Park.

The local fire service said on Twitter: "An unconscious man was transported from a difficult place in the area of the Mega Cave of Kalavryton and handed over to the E.K.A.B [emergency teams]. They [brought] 7 firefighters with 2 vehicles."

The well-liked nature park, a hotspot for professional photographers and keen plane enthusiasts, was reported to be the location where the man was observing a NATO fighter jet drill when the incident occurred.
