Police are investigating after a teenage girl was reportedly sexually assaulted outside a park in Long Eaton. She told officers she was followed by a teenage boy - who then assaulted her at the entrance of Springfield Park.

Derbyshire Police said the girl managed to run away. The boy, who was with another person, then ran in the opposite direction towards the Bridge Inn pub.

The alleged attack happened after the girl was walking along Longmoor Lane between 3.30pm and 4.10pm on Friday (September 27). She said the boy began following her past the Bridge Inn pub and on the path towards the park.

The teenage boy is described as white, between 5ft 5ins to 5ft 7ins tall, and of medium build. He had brown hair – short at the back and sides, a very pale complexion and freckles, prominent front teeth, and was wearing a burgundy, blue and white tracksuit.

Inspector Matt Ladd from Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood team said: "Reports such as this are always concerning for the local community and as a result you will see an increased police presence in the area in the coming days. I can say that we are treating this as an isolated incident and would encourage anyone with concerns to speak with local officers.

“We are very keen to hear from anyone who recognises the description of the person above, or who has been driving in the area at the time and may have dash cam which will be useful to officers. If you have any information, please contact us with reference 24*578392."
