Body found near town in search for missing man

Police say they have found a body while searching for a missing man in Derbyshire. Officers had shared an appeal saying that they were "very concerned" for missing man Michael from Long Eaton, who went missing from his home on Friday, December 13.

Michael, who is also known as Mick, was last seen in the town around lunchtime on Friday. At 5.30pm on Saturday (December 14) the force issued a statement confirming that a body had been found in the search for the 76-year-old.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire police said: "Earlier today, a body was found in water near Trent Lock, near Long Eaton. We believe the body is that of Michael, who was reported missing in the area yesterday.

"Specialist officers are supporting Michael's family at this distressing time."
