Hundreds of roles up for grabs at huge Swadlincote jobs fair

The massive job fair gives job seekers a chance to secure employment on the day

Swadlincote’s job fair is back, with opportunities for eager job seekers to secure employment, career advice or an interview on the day. South Derbyshire District Council and The Department of Work and Pensions have announced their job fair is making a return on Wednesday, October 2, at Green Bank Leisure Centre in Swadlincote town centre.

The free-of-charge event and will be open to all to learn about what is on offer in the local area. Some of the employers that will be in attendance include Derbyshire Constabulary, East Midlands Airport, Diamond Bus, Army Reserves, Lidl, Prestige Nursing Care, Keystone Group, South Derbyshire District Council and Essential Recruitment.

It promises to offer training opportunities, access to support agencies, and job vacancies from various employers. A spokesperson for South Derbyshire District Council said “Several hundred full and part time vacancies will be on offer, with roles including administration, education, sales, customer service, hospitality, security, care, catering, cleaning, driving, production and warehouse operatives.”

The previous jobs fair in Swadlincote attracted over 300 people who were looking for work, with 100 jobseekers completing a job application on the day of the event, 96 leaving with interviews and 28 receiving job offers before leaving the event.

There will also be services there to help people with retraining or with their employability. One example of services available at the event includes a free service called ‘Jumpstart’ which provides free short training courses to help people get back into work or access further training. The courses include essential digital skills, hospitality & catering, logistics, business & retail, cleaning, and health care.

There will also be another free service called ‘Beyond Barriers South Derbyshire’ helping people from 18 to 64 to gain new skills and build up confidence, aiming to improve their employability. There is also no charge for businesses and organisations wishing to come and exhibit their opportunities on the day.
