by · Derbyshire Live

Derbyshire police have confirmed that two people have been taken to hospital after a three-vehicle crash during rush hour. Officers were called to reports of a crash on the A38 northbound towards Markeaton Island just before 8.25am on Tuesday (November 5).

An Inrix spokesperson said the crash had closed two lanes, causing slow traffic in the area and around the A516. A statement from the traffic monitoring service said, shortly after the incident: "2 (of 3) lanes are closed on the A38 northbound in Derbyshire between the A516 near Derby South, and the A516 near Derby North due to a collision. Delays of at least 40 mins, please allow extra time for your journey."

The Highways Agency and East Midlands Ambulance Service were in attendance shortly after the closure, with two people being taken to hospital. Inrix announced at around 10.30am that the road had reopened, with traffic returning to normal shortly afterwards.

Derbyshire police say there is currently no more information on the injuries sustained at this current time.
