A 10-year-old girl has died after being bitten by a family dog at her North Yorkshire home.

Emergency services were called to an address in the Blackley area of Manchester after reports that a child had been attacked by a dog yesterday afternoon

North Yorkshire Police said the girl was killed inside the family home in the Malton area yesterday afternoon, succumbing to her injuries despite help from medics

Police said despite efforts by medical professionals and a member of the public who came to the family's aid, the girl suffered serious injuries and died at the scene
