Yogi Adityanath on Thursday staked the claim to form government in Uttar Pradesh for the second time, a day ahead of his swearing-in as Chief Minister on Friday at a mega event which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a slew of dignitaries.

After being elected as the leader of BJP's legislature party in UP, Adityanath met Governor Anandiben Patel at the Raj Bhavan to stake his party's claim.

PM Modi, senior BJP leaders including CMs from other states, and dignitaries from across different fields will attend the swearing-in ceremony at a Lucknow stadium on Friday.

Outgoing deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, and former Uttarakhand Governor Baby Rani Maurya are seen as the frontrunners for the two posts.

Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and 60 other business tycoons have also been invited. Roads leading to Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, the venue for the event, have been decorated with lights. Cut-outs of Modi, Shah and Adityanath are in place.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad's state-level functionary Dinesh Shankar said prominent seers, along with members of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, have been invited.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Delhi on Thursday evening in the first highest-level visit between India and China after their ties came under severe strain following the border standoff in eastern Ladakh.

According to reports, Yi is set to hold talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on Friday morning.

At the Friday talks, the Indian side is unlikely to shift focus from the military standoff in eastern Ladakh as it is expected to press for complete disengagement of troops from all the remaining friction points in the region.

The Calcutta High court on Thursday reserved its order in a suo motu petition, along with a bunch of PILs seeking a probe by CBI or NIA, in the death of eight people in West Bengal's Birbhum district. The verdict is likely to be announced on Friday.

Eight people, including two children, were charred to death as nearly a dozen huts were set ablaze in Bogtui village early Tuesday in a suspected fallout of the murder of a ruling Trinamool Congress leader and 'upa-pradhan' (deputy chief) of the local panchayat.

The political controversial Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2022 will be introduced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Lok Sabha tomorrow, 25th March 2022. 

According to reports, the number of seats in the merged municipal corporation of Delhi will not exceed 250, and a special officer may be appointed to oversee its function till the first meeting of the body is held under the reunification law.
