Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) state pension payments are forecast to rise by hundreds next April.

The social security advisory committee, which scrutinises government welfare policies, said ministers need to “urgently” conduct a review of how the cuts will impact state pensioners.

It comes as state pensioners protest outside Number 10 Downing Street over the Labour Party government decision to axe the benefit for some pensioners.
