Two minor earthquakes were reported near Mawlaik and Monghpyak towns within a few hours, registering magnitudes of 4.5 and 3.1 on the Richter scale, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology. As per the announcement, on December 11, 2024, at approximately 7:55 a.m., a minor earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale occurred. The epicenter was located about 42 miles southeast of the Tamu Seismic Station, approximately 3 miles east of Mawlaik town in Myanmar, at a latitude of 23.63°N, a longitude of 94.46°E, and a depth of 71 kilometers.
