Authorities have detained and are investigating members of the Parahita Min Gaung social organization in Mandalay for suspected connections with the People’s Defense Force (PDF), sources close to security forces report. Contrary to some reports, the arrests were not related to the group’s involvement in the funeral arrangements for Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, former Mandalay Region Chief Minister and NLD Vice Chairman. Instead, officials are investigating alleged communications with PDF groups.
