Police name Irish pedestrian killed in collision with lorry in London
POLICE have named a pedestrian who was killed in a collision with a lorry in north London last year. Thomas Murphy died after being involved in the incident which happened at around 3.30pm on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at the junction of Kilburn High Road and Cambridge Avenue. The 71-year-old, an Irish national who was living in Maida Vale, died at the scene, which was not far from Kilburn High Road rail station. The driver of the lorry stopped nearby a short time after the incident and has been spoken to by police. Thomas Murphy was killed in a collision with a lorry while walking along Kilburn High Road There has been no arrests made in connection with the incident. Today the Metropolitan Police Force revealed Mr Murphy’s identity, while confirming that his family had been informed. They have also appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward. Second security alert at GAA grounds in Belfast declared a ‘hoax’
PSNI officers have confirmed a security alert at a GAA ground in Belfast yesterday afternoon was a ‘hoax’. The incident saw a suspicious object found at the Henry Jones Playing Fields on Church Road in Castlereagh, which are used by East Belfast GAA. In a statement this morning the PSNI confirmed the object had been “examined” and the threat declared a “hoax”. Church Road in Belfast was the focus of two security alerts this week “The alert began after a report was made to police shortly after 1.15pm yesterday afternoon (September 18) of a suspicious object in the Church Road area,” the PSNI confirmed. “A public safety operation was implemented, which involved closing Church Road between Manse Road and the Ballygowan Road. “Ammunition Technical Officers attended and examinations were carried out on the object, which has now been declared a hoax and taken away for further forensic examination.” The incident was the second security alert at the site in just two days, with a suspicious object found in the playing…
