A key witness in the ongoing Sharon Otieno murder case has gone missing days after he testified in the Milimani Law Courts.

According to the family, Cliff Momanyi has not been reachable on phone nor has he been seen. The matter, which was reported to Kisii Police Station on Thursday, March 24, is now under investigations.

She added that Momanyi was expected home on Wednesday, March 23, but failed to show up. Kamaiga revealed that she had no clue that her husband was a witness in the case until she watched the news.

“My husband was supposed to come back on Wednesday night but he is not yet home, his phone indicates that he was last online at around 7:29pm on Tuesday, March 22.

"As a family we are very much worried now that we know the matter he was involved in,” she stated.

Kimaiga added that it was unlike for her husband to switch off his phone, expressing fear of what could have happened to the medic who testified on Tuesday, March 23, further asking the police to expedite their search efforts.

A section of family members also wondered why the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) did not put him under witness protection yet he is one of the key witnesses in the case involving Migori Governor, Okoth Obado.

During his testimony at Milimani Law Courts, Momanyi told the Judge that he forged documents for Governor Obado's personal assistant Michael Oyamo, who is a prime suspect in the murder case.

He stated that Oyamo wanted medical reports to indicate that he was sick and hospitalised on the day Sharon Otieno's body was discovered in Homabay County.

"The patient (Oyamo) did not even come to the hospital but I was requested to fill the medical records form in which I indicated he suffered accidental suffocation and strangulation by unknown people.”

The police are investigating the matter and are yet to release a statement.
