Terraced home goes viral as house hunters spot saucy bathroom message
by MAILONLINE · Mail OnlineWhile some might call it barefaced cheek, others will see it as a seller's safeguard lest the bottom should fall out of the housing market.
But whatever one makes of the message inscribed on the bathtub of a two-bedroom home up for sale in Gateshead, it has certainly captured the attention of social media users.
Priced at £135,000, the two-bedroom home in the metropolitan county of Tyne and Wear includes a bathroom, living room, kitchen and dining room.
From the outside, it looks much like any other terraced house; on the inside, it is anything but.
Or perhaps, given the reaction of TikTok users, anything butt.
'Is that a threat?' asked one user.
'Live, laugh, bath,' chimed in another.
Some positively welcomed the message scrawled on the side of the tub.
'Ah, I'd like that, cheers,' commented a third user.
The source of their amusement was a sticker bearing the legend: 'If I was a bubble in your bath, I'd tickle your bum and make you laugh.'
Given the otherwise innocuous nature of the home, which is described in the particulars as a fantastic opportunity for investors looking to add a ready-to-let asset to their portfolio, the unexpected addition has become a talking point.
'The sticker on the bath got quite a lot of attention in the office,' said Ismail Akbar, an estate agent at House Sales Direct, with whom the property is on the market.
'It is one of the first things that we noticed, we did find it quite funny.
'When we have been getting enquiries about the property, a lot of people have been mentioning it. It has definitely helped with the interest.
'I don't have a backstory to the sticker, I'm not too sure how it came about. I am due to speak to the vendor soon, so I may ask him about it.'
The property is situated less than half a mile from Dunston Station, enabling prospective buyers to be in London within four hours.
It is also close to the A1, providing easy access to major motorways for commuting or leisure.
'Newcastle is a hot market,' Akbar added. 'Whenever we put a property on from there, it does sell quite quickly.
'We have it on at a very competitive price, which is one of the reasons why we are getting a lot of interest.
'It's an opportunity for investors. It's a strong rental yield.
'It's getting a lot of traction from investors, first time buyers and families.
'You get a lot for your money. It has a good garden space with a well-maintained garden.
'It's a very sought after area.'
