Bay of Bengal depression may intensify into cyclone, bringing rain to 7 regions and 4 states: DMH
by EMG · Eleven Media Group Co., LtdThe depression forming in the south-west of the Bay of Bengal may intensify into a cyclonic storm, and it may bring rain to seven regions and four states, according to the forecast made by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).
According to the observations at 12:30 pm on November 29, the deep depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved north-northwestwards. It is centered at about 670 nautical miles west-southwest of Coco Island, 200 nautical miles southeast of Chennai and 185 nautical miles east-southeast of Puducherry in India. It is likely to move northwestwards and further intensify into a cyclonic storm during next 12 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move northwestwards and cross North Tamil Nadu- Puducherry Coasts (India) around November 30.
It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the deep depression is coded as yellow stage, but due to its speed, rain are likely to be isolated to scattered in Nay Pyi Taw, lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady regions and Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah states with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in some areas till November 30.
On November 28, rains were isolated in Magway Region and Kayah State, scattered in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Tanintharyi regions, northern Shan and Chin states, fairly widespread in lower Sagaing Region and eastern Shan State and widespread in upper Sagaing Region and southern Shan State with partly cloudy over the rest of the regions and states, announced the DMH.
