Exact date major chain to open new Nottinghamshire store replacing Wilko

by · NottinghamshireLive

A national chain will soon open up its latest new Nottinghamshire store - replacing an old Wilko that has been empty for more than a year. Nottinghamshire-based Wilko had traded from The Square in Beeston, but vacated the unit in September 2023 after being placed into administration.

Initially, the old Beeston unit was touted to be a Poundland store after the budget chain's parent company Pepco Group struck a deal to take over some of Nottinghamshire's Wilko sites, including Kimberley and Worksop. When this failed to materialise Boyes took on the unit and started recruiting new assistant supervisors and sales assistants for the store in November.

It has now been revealed that the Yorkshire-based department store will open its doors at 9am on Friday, November 29. Boyes, which was founded in 1981 in Scarborough in East Yorkshire, now has 75 stores across the country.
