More customers claim Nottingham party and wedding planner failed to refund money

A number of people have come forward to allege that they are also waiting for a refund from a Nottingham-based wedding and party planner. Nottinghamshire Live reported on October 31 how Shyam and Shradha Parmar, from Hertfordshire, had been waiting for months for their £350 back from Ikra Parvez of Luxury Creations after they changed their mind about booking their wedding with her.

Now, others say the same thing has happened to them. One couple, Kam and Lee, run the Cycle Printworks business in Lenton and used to provide printing services for posters and advertising boards to Luxury Creations. But they claim Ms Parvez ran up a debt of around £250 and then disappeared without having paid in September 2023.

"They were printing with us for about a year," claims Lee. "We'd do jobs for her and she'd say 'Oh, I'll pay you next time.' And next time would come, and she'd say there was something wrong with the bank. It kept going on. She built up about £250, but we didn't think anything of it because she'd been a customer with us for so long. Then she disappeared.

"We tried to be professional because we're a business, so didn't want to say "we know what you're doing, you're trying to rip us off." But she just never paid."

Another customer, called Madeeha, said she paid £410 for wedding services from Luxury Creations in May 2024, including centerpieces, chair covers, a display and a partition. The wedding was set to be held at an unfurnished venue in Huddersfield in Yorkshire.

But Madeeha changed her mind after finding a furnished venue and asked Ms Parvez for a refund, while offering to pay for the partition in exchange for "wasting her time". Ms Parvez then agreed to process a refund.

She said it would take 10 working days to process, but after 10 days had passed, no money had been returned, so Madeeha chased up. Ms Parvez said she would check, before Madeeha had to ask again and was told that Ms Parvez would "check on Tuesday as we have had two close deaths in the family."

After Tuesday went by, three more messages were sent by Madeeha on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. When no response came, she continued to chase until responses ceased altogether.

Because it was a bank transfer rather than a website transaction, her bank could not help with retrieving the money.

A third customer, from Bakersfield, says he is still waiting to be paid back after his wedding in March 2023 turned into a nightmare. He alleges that the chairs brought by a late Ms Parvez were mouldy, before a curtain, supplied by Ms Parvez, fell on the groom during the moment he pulled it back to reveal his wife.

She had only turned up after being challenged, having initially cancelled due to her "uncle's death", the couple allege. A day later, when Ms Parvez turned up to to collect the chairs and the groom's mother complained about their state, she allegedly called the police.

She later agreed to partially refund the couple after initially denying responsibility, they claim, but never paid the money. Later, her Instagram account, via which she had been communicating with the couple, appeared to have been deleted.

The newlyweds gave up on the money until they saw the previous story in Nottinghamshire Live. The groom said: "We thought it was just us but now we know it's not so got in touch.

"A wedding day is the worst possible time for anything to go wrong. Money comes and goes so we left it but what happened should never happen to anyone. The money is important but accountability is the main thing."

The business Luxury Creations Ltd, which Ikra Parvez was listed as the sole director of, was dissolved in April 2024. But in May 2024 a new business was incorporated, called Luxe Events by Ikra, at the same business address - 171 Nuthall Road in Nottingham.

An investigation into Luxe Events by Ikra by Nottingham City Council's trading standards department has been confirmed to be ongoing. Ikra Parvez was contacted for comment but did not respond.
